# Standard

This is the most commonly used format, where players or teams are placed in a group and compete against each other. Based on the standings, the event either concludes or entries [progress to the draw](/tournated/tournated-portals/tournated-manager/creating-and-managing-a-tournament/match-and-result-management/groups/generate-draws-from-groups.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
Important to note: our algorithm determines group positions based on the following criteria in descending order: **points, head-to-head results, and ratios**.
{% endhint %}

To clarify head-to-head point:

* If two teams have the same number of points, the higher position is awarded to the winner of their direct match.
* If more than two teams have the same points and an equal number of head-to-head wins, the standings will be determined by the best ratio.

This format is suitable for singles, doubles, and team categories.
